Palm Valley Golf Course

Visitors to Palm Valley Golf Course encounter a golf sanctuary like no other in Nevada. Palm trees line the street and plush grass fills the landscape within the confines of the land.

Instead of a typical desert course with rough desert terrain surrounding the fairways and greens, golfers find what some call transition areas; large shallow patches of firm sand await you on almost every hole. While they might cause tension at first, you soon learn they play like almost any other shot off the fairway and much easier to hit out of than sand or thick rough.

Palm Valley plays 7,015 yards from the back tees up to 5,300 yards from the front. The club also offers Junior tees which play at 4,200 yards - perfect for the beginning golfer. Only one hole has water for golfers to stumble upon, making the course forgivable for high-handicappers.

The one hole with water is Palm Valley's signature hole: No. 9. It's also one of most difficult. The par 5 begins a wide-open fairway, but the hole increases in difficulty on the second shot. The fairway narrows and water sits on the left-hand side with a lank tree line on the right. The green is guarded with bunkers and the wedge approach requires great precision.

Del Marr's Sun City community has two 18-hole courses. One, Highland Falls, is a Hale Irwin mid-length course and the other is the Arthur Hills' Palm Valley championship course. Visitors will also find a junior pitch-'n'-putt course and a lighted driving range facility.
